Release History

This ActiveTcl release is based on the 8.5.3 Tcl core. Note: This release should be deployed in a production environment after extensive testing only.

This release includes:

  • Bugfixes in several packages, and in the Tcl/Tk core.

  • A set of preinstalled packages like in ActiveTcl 8.4, although not as large as ActiveTcl 8.4. The packages come in the form of a preloaded TEApot repository which is simply copied to the correct location on installation. Should the user however already have a TEApot repository in the chosen installation directory the installer will ask how to resolve the conflict. The three options given are

    1. Keep the existing repository and ignore the preloaded repository. This is the default.
    2. Replace the existing repository with the preloaded repository.
    3. Merge the contents of the preloaded repository into the existing repository.

  • All packages, where possible, have been compiled to be Tcl thread aware (--enable-threads). Note however, that the Tcl/Tk core itself is not built with threads enabled, except on OS X.
  • Tcllib's critcl based accelerator packages have been added, except for AIX, OS X and Solaris/x86.
