VANCOUVER, British Columbia – February 14, 2012 – ActiveState, whose software enables developers and enterprises to innovate from code to cloud smarter, faster, and safer, announced today that Stackato is now available as an Amazon Machine Image (AMI). Stackato is the application platform for creating a private PaaS using any language on any stack on any cloud, and with this integration users can now set up their own private PaaS in Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2) without having to download a virtual machine of Stackato.
AMI is a virtual machine image format used natively on Amazon EC2. Developers interested in trying Stackato can now obtain access to the AMI by emailing stackato-support@activestate.com. The Stackato AMI is thenshared as a private image, accessible in the AWS Management Console enabling developers to quickly and seamlessly create a private PaaS without having to download a VM.
“Extending support via an AMI allows developers and enterprises already running on the world’s most popular public IaaS to access and start using Stackato within minutes,” said Jeff Hobbs, Vice President of Engineering at ActiveState. “Development on the desktop in a simulated production environment can begin immediatelyand unlike other solutions, Stackato supports development in any language including but not limited to Java, Ruby, Python, Perl, Node.js, and PHP.
Stackato is the application platform for creating a private PaaS using any language on any stack on any cloud. From the desktop to the datacenter, Stackato makes it easy to develop, deploy, migrate, scale, manage, and monitor applications on any cloud. With Stackato, developers can simulate a production environment on a local machine, code, test, and then launch an application to any cloud. Additionally, enterprise IT can achieve new levels of data security, reduce time to market, save money, ensure compliance, and gain greater control over the cloud.
