VMWorld, — Las Vegas, NV — August 29, 2011 — New Relic, Inc., the SaaS web application performance management provider, and ActiveState, the dynamic language experts, today announced that New Relic Standard Edition will be available free of charge for customers of Stackato, ActiveState’s new enterprise cloud platform for creating a private platform-as-a-service (“PaaS”), currently in Beta. Stackato users will be able to leverage New Relic to monitor end-user experiences and application performance live 24×7, proactively diagnose performance bottlenecks at the code level, and better ensure superior online service delivery. Together, Stackato and New Relic create a powerful end-to-end solution for deploying, managing, and monitoring web applications that meet high standards for performance and end-user satisfaction.
“As more and more organizations migrate their business-critical systems to public and private cloud environments, they increasingly turn to solutions like Stackato and New Relic to give them the speed, control and visibility they need to be successful,” said Bart Copeland, President & CEO, ActiveState. “The key is providing easy-to-use tools that reduce complexity so that development teams can concentrate on building value for their customers, not worrying about the challenges of configuring and administering middleware systems. We believe our integrated end-to-end offering of Stackato and New Relic achieve this.”
“We are pleased to be working with a leading cloud platform provider like ActiveState, an organization that clearly understands that reliability and simplicity go hand in hand when it comes to meeting the need of today’s app development and deployment teams,” said Bill Lapcevic, vice president of business development at New Relic. “Offering New Relic’s application management service free of charge underscores our joint commitment to helping customers deploy superior-performing online apps that achieve both business and performance goals.”
Based on VMware’s Cloud Foundry open source project, Stackato extends Cloud Foundry to support Python and Perl in addition to Java, Ruby, Node.js, Scala and Erlang, and makes it enterprise-ready for creating a private PaaS on top of a virtualization platform such as VMware’s vSphere. New Relic offers monitoring of real user experiences as well as deep-dive diagnostics for live web applications in production environments and extensive reporting for ongoing performance tuning.
